Jesus knows all about you

I remember when Sara, my wife, was pregnant with our daughter Elizabeth.  Sara would read books to our unborn child.  Both of us would talk to her in the womb.  We would feel her kick and move around.  It was amazing to say the least.

Yet, according to Psalm 139, Jesus already knew her.  He formed her inner most parts.  He weaved together her organs.  He was already aware of her personality.  He knew everything about her long before we ever met her face-to-face.

That's awesome to know.  The God of the universe, the King of all things, knew Elizabeth before we did.  Even more amazing, he knew me long before my parents did.  In fact, he still knows me and knows me better than I know myself.

Nothing is a surprise to God.  Not my my joy or my shock.  Not my reactions or my words.  Especially not my sin.  God knows everything I'm going to do long before I do it.  He also knows when I disappoint him.

We think we can hide our sins.  I don't know why we think that.  We believe that as long as no one sees us, we're OK.  All the while, we forget that Jesus knows everything.  He knows just what we're doing and why we're doing it.

It's why I always list sex as the top temptation teenagers face.  First, the images of sex are everywhere and bombard all segments of society.  Second, it's easy to hide.  You can't hide being high or drunk.  It's pretty evident when you're wasted.  But sex, well, no one but the people involved know that - not with contraception available.  Or looking at pornography on the Internet.  That's a secret sin that can be suppressed for long periods of time.

We think we can do those things and get away with it because no one knows.  But that's no true.  Jesus knows everything about you - even when you sin and mess up.

The amazing thing about God, though, is he's willing to forgive if you repent and seek his forgiveness.  He knows you, flaws and all, but will forgive if you sincerely seek it.

Know that all sin is against God who sees everything you do.  But know that God is not a bully waiting to zap you when you mess up.  On the contrary, he's a loving father who simply wants to forgive you and restore your relationship after you've hurt him personally with sin.

No one on earth is like that.
